Automation
Switching modes with the power source, Eco on battery, and clamshell behaviour.
Automation stores performance choices for AC and battery power and the automatic Eco preference. These features require Arsenal to keep running.
Performance by power source
Enable Switch profile with the power source, then select Silent, Balanced or Turbo for On AC power and On battery. The choices save when changed. Power transitions are allowed to settle before settings are applied, so the change is not necessarily immediate.
Automation currently offers the three built-in modes. Named custom performance plans can be selected from Performance and assigned to Quick Panel shortcuts, but they are not AC/battery choices here.
Eco GPU mode on battery
This controls the same automatic-GPU preference as Optimized mode: Eco on battery and Standard on AC, where supported. Applications using the dedicated GPU or connected displays can prevent a transition. See Applications holding the dGPU.
Automatic refresh rate
Enable Automatic refresh rate on Display & graphics to select the low panel rate on battery and maximum on AC.
Clamshell mode
For automatic lid behavior, use Advanced → Automatic clamshell mode. It changes the lid action when an external display and AC power are connected, then restores the saved/default action when those conditions no longer apply. Check Windows Power Options if the actual lid behavior differs.
Keyboard backlight timeout
Advanced has separate Backlight timeout (battery) and Backlight timeout (AC) values. These control supported idle-backlight behavior.
Foreground-app behavior
The current Automation page does not have a per-application profile editor. The overlay’s separate Only while gaming option uses foreground-app activity; see Hardware overlay.
Charge-limit startup action
Setup can register a separate startup task that runs:
Arsenal.exe charge
This applies the saved charge limit and startup backlight, then exits without opening a window or replacing a running Arsenal instance. Task registration needs administrator rights. It is separate from the normal sign-in task.
