Performance modes

Built-in and custom plans, per-plan CPU and GPU tuning, and Apply changes.

Performance plans combine an ASUS firmware base mode with Windows power settings and any enabled custom tuning. Select a plan on Performance before editing its values.

Built-in base modes

Silent, Balanced and Turbo are the three built-in plans. Their power and cooling behavior depends on the model, power source and workload.

Silent
Best power efficiency

A firmware profile that prioritizes lower power and quieter cooling. Actual temperatures and fan behaviour depend on your model and workload.

Reading, writing, browsing, meetings
Balanced
Balanced

A general-purpose firmware profile balancing performance, temperature and fan noise for everyday work.

Everything, most of the time
Turbo
Best performance

A performance-focused firmware profile, with a higher cooling and power budget where your hardware and power source allow it.

Named custom plans

Create a plan from the one you are using, give it a meaningful name and refine its compatible power, GPU and fan settings without changing the original. The active-profile row shows up to five plans; View all opens the full library for selection, renaming and confirmed deletion.

See Custom performance plans for plan inheritance, the 20-plan limit, Quick Panel shortcuts and the surfaces that still show only the built-in modes.

What changes with a profile

Arsenal selects the firmware mode and applies its saved Windows power and CPU boost settings. Enabled custom power limits, undervolting and fan curves are reapplied with the profile. Supported dedicated-GPU tuning is also stored per profile.

Hardware-dependent values

A firmware preset and a profile with custom tuning can behave differently. Available sliders and limits depend on the detected CPU, GPU and model.

Tune the selected profile

The page edits the selected profile. Changes to the tuning fields are saved with Apply changes; select this before switching profiles or leaving the page.

CPU power and thermals

ControlPurpose
Sustained powerSPL / PL1: the longer-term power limit.
Slow burstSPPT / PL2: a short-term limit above sustained power, where supported.
Fast peakFPPT: the momentary power ceiling on supported hardware.
Temperature limitA supported CPU temperature target; firmware protection still applies.
CPU boost policyThe Windows processor boost policy, including Disabled, Enabled and aggressive or efficient policies.

Undervolting

CPU and integrated-GPU undervolt controls require a supported processor and PawnIO access. They are gated separately, so one may be available without the other. Use Apply undervolt with this profile to enable the saved offsets.

Check stability after tuning

Voltage and clock changes can cause crashes or incorrect results. Adjust in small steps and test the workloads you use. Return to known working settings if instability appears.

Dedicated GPU

Supported controls include core and memory clock offsets, Dynamic Boost, temperature target, power target and maximum GPU clock. The available values come from the detected GPU and platform. These settings are separate from GPU mode switching.

Apply and reset

  1. Choose the active profile.
  2. Edit its values and enable the relevant switches: Apply custom power limits, Apply undervolt with this profile and Apply custom fan curves with this profile.
  3. Select Apply changes to save and apply the profile.

The switches govern their own groups; CPU boost and dedicated-GPU tuning do not have the same three apply switches. Reset profile clears the selected profile’s saved overrides and resets its fan curves.

Switching profiles

Performance selects any built-in or custom plan. Quick Panel can keep three chosen plans in its dedicated performance row, and the Performance tile’s detail view lists them all. The Windows companion bridge also exposes the complete plan list to compatible clients.

Home, the tray menu, supported performance hotkeys and AC/battery Automation continue to switch among Silent, Balanced and Turbo.
