GPU modes

Eco, Standard, Ultimate and Optimized, restart requirements and apps using the GPU.

On supported systems, GPU mode controls whether the dedicated GPU is available and whether the internal display uses the MUX’s dedicated-GPU path. Open Display & graphics, Home or Quick Panel to select a mode.

The modes

Eco

The dedicated GPU is switched off entirely and everything runs on the integrated one. Power savings depend on the machine and workload.

Switches from Standard without a reboot on supported hardware. Close dGPU apps first.

Standard

Both GPUs available. Windows and each application decide which one runs, with hybrid display routing where supported.

Display routing depends on the ASUS model and driver.

Ultimate

The MUX switch routes the panel directly to the dedicated GPU, taking the integrated one out of that display path.

Requires a supported MUX. Switching into or out of this mode can require a restart.

Optimized

Not a hardware mode: Arsenal moves between Eco and Standard for you as the power source changes.

Eco on battery, Standard on AC.

Illustrative Home GPU control. Available modes depend on your hardware; switching into or out of Ultimate can require a restart.

Eco mode on battery

Eco disables the dedicated GPU on supported machines. This can reduce power use when you do not need it. Applications that require that GPU, and displays connected through it, may become unavailable until you return to Standard.

Applications holding the dGPU

Display & graphics → Applications holding the dGPU lists detected processes using the dedicated GPU. Close them before switching to Eco. Stop dGPU apps requests that they be closed; save work first.

Advanced → Close apps before Eco mode enables automatic process closing for this transition. External displays, active applications or driver state can still prevent a switch.

Ultimate and the MUX

Ultimate uses a supported MUX to connect the internal panel directly to the dedicated GPU. Arsenal prompts for a restart when the requested change needs one. Returning from Ultimate can also require a restart.

The mode requires compatible hardware. Display routing and power use depend on the machine; a particular performance gain is not guaranteed.

Optimized

Optimized enables automatic switching between Eco on battery and Standard on AC. Eco GPU mode on battery in Automation controls the same automatic-GPU preference. USB-C behavior also depends on Optimized mode on USB-C power in Advanced.

XG Mobile

When a supported XG Mobile device is detected, Display & graphics offers Toggle XG Mobile. Follow the connection or disconnection prompts and close applications using the GPU before a handover.

Clocks and power

Supported clock offsets, maximum GPU clock, Dynamic Boost, temperature and power targets are on Performance. They are saved per profile with Apply changes.
