Battery

Charge limits, discharge rate and an in-app view of the Windows battery report.

Battery shows the charge limit, one-time full charge and available battery readings. Changes to the charge limit are sent to the ASUS firmware.

Charge limit

Set Maximum charge level or choose a preset. The app supports a 40–100% range, with a higher minimum or adjusted values on models that require them. A lower limit stops further charging; it does not actively discharge a battery already above it.

PresetUse
60% · DeskA lower charge target for use near power.
80% · RecommendedThe app’s middle preset.
100% · TravelCharge to full capacity.

Firmware behavior across shutdown and reboot varies. Use setup’s charge-limit restoration option when you want Arsenal to reapply the saved value at startup.

That restoration task runs at boot as SYSTEM, so from Arsenal 1.1.8 it is registered only when the executable sits in a folder that only administrators can write to. Kept anywhere you can write yourself — Downloads, the desktop, a folder you made — the limit is applied when Arsenal starts at sign-in instead, and the boot-time task is refused. Security and privacy explains why and what to move.

One-time full charge

This temporarily requests 100% without replacing your saved normal limit. Selecting it again restores the saved limit. Arsenal clears the override when it observes a full battery and restores normal charging during later battery-setting application, including startup.

Keep Arsenal running if you want it to observe charge completion. Use the charge-limit control to restore your normal target explicitly when needed.

Windows smart-charging indicator

The Windows is not showing smart charging message concerns the Windows battery icon. Updating the ASUS registry value used for that indicator requires administrator rights. A missing indicator does not by itself mean that the firmware charge limit failed.

Battery readings

Available readings include charge percentage, charging or discharging power, time estimates and battery-health information. Values depend on what the battery and Windows report. Time estimates can change with workload.

For comparisons, observe the discharge rate under a similar workload before and after changing a setting. Lower power use can extend runtime, but the effect of Eco mode, refresh rate or brightness varies by machine.

Windows battery report

Select Generate report under Battery report. Arsenal reads the Windows report inside the Battery page: battery health, current and design capacity, cycle count, estimated runtime and weekly capacity history. The full Windows HTML report remains one click away.

The report files are kept in Arsenal's own folder. Some ASUS batteries report a cycle count of zero when they do not publish a count; Arsenal shows that as unavailable instead of claiming the battery has had no cycles. Runtime estimates come from past use and may differ from what you see under your current workload.

Power-source automation

Automation provides separate AC and battery performance choices and the automatic Eco preference. GPU switching may be delayed or blocked by applications using the dedicated GPU.

Lid-lighting battery options

Supported Slash hardware has a battery indicator, low-battery alert and dimming options. AniMe Matrix has separate content options, including battery display with the clock. See Lighting.
