Fan curves

Edit and apply per-profile fan curves, adjust hysteresis and calibrate maximum RPM.

A fan curve associates temperatures with fan percentages. Arsenal stores separate curves for each performance mode and each available fan.

How curves work

The editor has eight control points. Arsenal sends the curve to the ASUS embedded controller, which controls the fan response. Actual RPM and thermal overrides depend on the firmware and cooling hardware.

Edit a curve

  1. Open Performance and select the profile to edit.
  2. Enable Apply custom fan curves with this profile.
  3. Select CPU fan, GPU fan or Mid fan, where available.
  4. Drag the curve points to adjust their temperature and percentage.
  5. Select Apply changes. Releasing a dragged point updates the editor; saving requires this button.

Reset profile resets the current profile’s curves and other tuning overrides. It is not a reset for just the selected fan.

Adjusting the shape

Make gradual changes and observe temperature and actual fan speed under your normal workloads. A low curve value does not guarantee that a fan will stop: firmware minimum speeds and thermal controls can override it.

Ramp-up and ramp-down hysteresis

These values set temperature margins for changes in fan response where the firmware supports them. The editor allows 0–20 degrees; zero leaves the firmware default in place. Save them with the profile using Apply changes.

Calibrate maximum RPM

Calibrate max RPM temporarily selects Turbo and sends full-speed curves while recording the highest fan readings. When readings stop increasing for the calibration interval, it saves valid maxima and reapplies the selected performance mode.

The fans can become loud during this operation. It measures maximum RPM; it does not sweep every speed or tune your curve automatically.

Check the actual readings

The percentage on a curve and a fan’s measured RPM are different values. Use Home or Quick Panel to see the resulting fan speed.

If a curve does not apply

  • Confirm that the intended profile is active.
  • Enable its custom-fan switch and select Apply changes.
  • Check for other software rewriting the same firmware settings.
  • Check model support and the log if the control is missing or the write fails.
